3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 5611 and the following apply.
3.1
ductile iron; nodular graphite iron; spheroidal graphite cast iron
cast iron with iron, carbon, and silicon as the basic elements, in which carbon primarily exists in the form of spheroidal graphite
3.2
side-by-side cast sample
sample cast simultaneously with the casting using the same gating system, arranged side by side with the casting during pouring
3.3
solid solution strengthened
phenomenon where the strength and hardness of a metal are increased by the formation of a solid solution due to the dissolution of solute atoms into the metal matrix
3.4
solid solution strengthened ferrite spheroidal graphite cast iron
spheroidal graphite cast iron primarily strengthened through silicon solid solution, with a ferrite matrix as the dominant phase
3.5
dross
fine inclusions (such as oxides and sulfides) located at the rim zone of a casting, and slag that has a lower density than the molten metal and accumulates on the surface of the melt bath or casting
4 Designation and classification method for spheroidal graphite cast iron for wind turbines
4.1 The designation method for spheroidal graphite cast iron shall meet the requirements of GB/T 5612.
4.2 Cast samples are classified into three types: separated test bar of casting, cast-on sample, and side-by-side cast sample, with dimensions in compliance with GB/T 1348.
4.3 The mechanical properties of spheroidal graphite cast iron shall be determined by testing the mechanical properties of cast samples.
4.4 The spheroidal graphite cast iron commonly used for wind turbines is primarily classified into two types: ferritic-pearlitic spheroidal graphite cast iron and solid solution strengthened ferrite spheroidal graphite cast iron.
