Vehicle marking of dangerous goods for road transportation
1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, appearance and size, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging and transportation, as well as product installation requirements and in-service maintenance requirements of vehicle marking of dangerous goods for road transportation.
This document is applicable to the production and use of vehicle markings of dangerous goods for road transportation.
This document is not applicable to the vehicle markings of radioactive materials for road transportation.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

vehicle marking of dangerous goods
a marking indicating the dangerous nature of the goods carried in a vehicle
3.2
UN number
four-digit Arabic numeral number compiled by the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, used for identifying a kind of substances or articles or a category of specific substances or articles

3.3
hazard identification number
a group of numbers or a combination of letter X and numbers indicating the danger of dangerous goods
Note: The classification code of Class 1 explosives can be used as a hazard identification number.
3.4
environmentally hazardous substance
liquid or solid substances or solutions and mixtures of such substances that contaminate the aquatic environment, as well as genetically modified microorganisms and living organisms
Note: Solutions and mixtures, such as preparations and wastes; environmentally hazardous substances, such as UN 3077 (substances harmful to the environment, solid, not otherwise specified), UN 3082 (substances harmful to the environment, liquid, not otherwise specified), UN 3245 (genetically modified microorganisms or genetically modified organisms).

elevated temperature substance
substance transported at a liquid temperature of 100°C or more, or at a solid temperature of 240°C or more.
Note: High-temperature substances, such as UN 3257 [heated liquid, not otherwise specified, with temperature above or equal to 100°C and below its flash point (including molten metal, molten salts, etc.), filled at temperatures above 190°C], UN 3257 [Heated liquid, not otherwise specified, with temperature above or equal to 100°C and below its flash point (including molten metal, molten salts, etc.), filling at temperatures below or equal to 190 C], UN 3258 (heated solids, not otherwise specified, with temperatures above or equal to 240°C).
4 Classification, appearance and size
4.1 Classification
Vehicle markings of dangerous goods for road transportation (hereinafter referred to as markings) are divided into the following three categories.
a) Rectangular marking. The corresponding dangerous goods are marked with hazard identification number and UN number to show the relevant information and dangers of the dangerous goods.
b) Diamond marking. Corresponding to the category and type of dangerous goods to which the corresponding dangerous goods belong, Chinese characters and patterns are marked to show the main characteristics and dangers of the category and category of dangerous goods.
c) Special marking. It includes environmentally hazardous substance and elevated temperature substance. The corresponding dangerous goods are marked with patterns to show the special dangers of the dangerous goods.
