本标准规定了采用脉冲反射式手工超声检测方法检测起重机械（包括桥式和门式起重机、流动式起重机、塔式起重机、臂架起重机等）钢焊缝内部缺欠的技术和验收准则。
本标准适用于检测母材厚度为 8 mm～100 mm 结构钢全焊透熔化焊焊接接头。本标准也适用于在编制检测工艺、合同各方认可情况下检测母材厚度为 6 mm～8 mm (不包括8 mm)的无衬垫结构钢全焊透熔化焊对接接头。
