1 Scope
This part of GB/T 17737 covers the requirements for leaky cable. It specifies preferred ratings and characteristics for leaky cable (hereinafter referred to as "cable") and enables selection of the appropriate tests and performance levels from the generic specification for inclusion in the detail specification.
This part is applicable to leaky cables for radio mobile communication system, wireless remote control system and radio warning system etc.
Note 1: The coupling intensity between cable and mobile equipment depends on:
——construction of the cable;
——characteristics of antenna (e.g., gain and orientation etc.);
——distance and orientation of the mobile antenna from the cable;
——types of ambient atmosphere;
——operating frequency range;
——manner of installation of the cable;
——shape, material and dimension of surrounding buildings.

Leaky (coaxial) cable
Coaxial communication cables with outer conductors that are intentionally not completely closed, so that part of the energy transmitted or received through the cable is coupled by or radiated to the transmission system formed by the outer conductor of the cable and the external environment.
