本标准等同采用ISO 11592:2001《艇身长度小于8m的小艇最大推进额定功率的确定》（英文版）。本标准对艇体长度小于8m的发动机驱动小艇最大推进额定功率的确定提出要求。本标准不适用于：——ISO 13590中所定义的个人艇；——皮艇及爱斯基摩海豹皮艇；——ISO 6185的第1部分～第3部分中所定义的充气艇，但在ISO 6185-3中要求的按本标准进行试验，其最大速度不小于30kn的硬质充气艇（RIBS）除外。——赛艇（仅为竞赛而设计和建造的艇）。本标准未规定与最大额定功率相关的艇的结构强度要求，且不保证因水域、风、伴流和波浪等所有条件下导致不稳定时的安全性。
