The national standard GB/T 46491-2025 Infant and toddler food processors will officially take effect on May 1, 2026. This standard focuses on the key performance, health and safety, providing comprehensive regulations for infant and toddler food processors. It aims to improve the quality of maternal and infant home appliances, ensuring the healthy growth of infants and toddlers.
This standard specifies the key performance of the products to better meet the needs of mothers and babies. It requires that the insulation temperature of food processors shall not be lower than 45 ℃, so as to ensure that the taste of food and reduce nutrient loss. Besides, it specifies that the grain size of food made by food processors with steaming and cooking functions shall not exceed 600 µ m, and not exceed 900 µ m for those made by processors without such functions, so as to ensure that the ingredients blended are delicate and easy to digest and absorb. The bottom of the food processors shall be flat and has sufficient grip, with a displacement of no more than 5mm, so as to prevent the product from shaking and dumping. It assesses the corrosion resistance of the core component blade, for the purpose of extending the product's service life and ensuring safe use.
In this standard, product safety requirements are strengthened to protect maternal and child health with care, and the technical requirements for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility of food processors are put forward to avoid electrical risks and reduce electromagnetic interference and its impact on the external environment. It specifies that the sterilization rate of food processers shall not be less than 99.9%, which is a strict sterilization requirement, effectively reducing health risks such as intestinal infection and diarrhea caused by malignant bacteria. In this standard, the noise level of food processors are controlled within 82dB (A) to create a quiet and comfortable use environment.
