本标准适用于地表水、地下水、生活污水、工业废水和海水中直链全氟辛基磺酸及其盐类（perfluorooctanesulfonic acid and perfluorooctanesulfonate, PFOS）、直链全氟辛酸及其盐类（perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctanoate, PFOA）的测定。
取样量为 0.5 L，定容体积为 1.0 ml，进样体积为 5.0 μl 时，PFOS（以对应酸的浓度计）的方法检出限为 0.6 ng/L，测定下限为 2.4 ng/L，PFOA（以对应酸的浓度计）的方法检出限为 0.5 ng/L，测定下限为 2.0 ng/L。
