(Passed by the 5th Session of Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress on October 25, 2013)
The 5th Session of Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress decides to make the following modifications over the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests":
1. One clause is added into Article 5, as its Clause III: "The State advocates a consumption pattern which is civilized, healthy, resource saving and environmental friendly, while opposes waste."
2. Article 14 is changed into "Consumers shall have the right to be respected over human dignity and national customs and habits, and shall be protected over their personal information in accordance with the law in purchasing and using commodities and receiving services."
3. Clause I of Article 16 is changed into "Business operators shall, in their supply of commodities and services to consumers, fulfill their obligations stipulated in the Law and other laws and regulations concerned."
One clause is added as Clause 3: "Business operators shall, in their supply of commodities and services to consumers, scrupulously abide by social morality, operate sincerely and guarantee consumers' legitimate rights and interests; shall not establish unjust and unreasonable trading terms as well as compel the trade."
