1 Scope This Standard specifies the basic dimensions, design function and strength requirements of corner fittings for various freight containers which conform to GB/T 1413, GB/T 5338, GB/T 7392 and GB/T 16563, as well as the types, materials and general principles of test, inspection, marking and packaging of corner fittings for freight containers. This Standard is applicable to the various freight containers which conform to GB/T 1413, GB/T 5338, GB/T 7392 and GB/T 16563. This Standard is not applicable to the air / surface (intermodal) freight containers specified in GB/T 17770. 2 Normative References The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. Each freight container shall have two right-hand top corner fittings (on the right as the observer outside the freight container faces either end of the container) and two left-hand top corner fittings which are the mirror image of the right-hand fittings. The bottom corner fittings shall have a similar configuration with the top corner fittings, except in respect of the end aperture. Figure 1 to Figure 4 illustrate the dimensions of right-hand top and bottom corner fittings; for the left-hand top and bottom corner fittings, the dimensions are corresponding with them. 3.1.2 Typical overall dimensions of a box-shaped corner fitting are detailed in Annex A. 3.2 Detailed dimensional and manufacturing requirements 3.2.1 Sharp corners shall be removed from the edges of corner fittings.
