1 Scope
This standard specifies the evaluation indicators of seismic intensity, including human feeling, damage degree of buildings, other damage phenomenon and horizontal seismic ground motion parameters. This standard is applicable to the evaluation of seismic intensity.
2 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 2.1 Seismic intensity Ground shake caused by earthquake and the shake degree caused by it. 2.2 Damage index Quantitative indicator for building damage degree; digits between 0.00 and 1.00 represent the damage degree from light to severe. 2.3 Mean damage index Weighted mean of damage indexes for similar buildings, namely the sum of products between the ratios of buildings subject to all-level damage and the corresponding damage index.
3 Classification of Grades and Categories
3.1 Classification of seismic intensity grades The seismic intensity can be classified into 12 grades which are expressed with Roman numerals I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI and XII. 3.2 Quantifier demarcation
