Foreword
All technical contents of this part in GB 17927 are mandatory.
GB 17927 "Upholstered furniture - Assessment of the resistance to ignition of mattress and sofa" that planned to issue is composed of the following parts:
——Part 1: Smouldering cigarette;
——Part 2: Match flame equivalent;
This part is the first part of GB 17927.
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in "Directives for Standardization - Part 1: Structure and Drafting of Standards" (GB/T 1.1-2009).
This Part replaces GB 17927-1999 "Upholstered Furniture - Assessment of the Resistance to Ignition of Mattress and Sofa", and compared with GB 17927-1999, has the main technical changes as:
——Revise the application scope and be applicable to assessment of resistance to ignition of mattress and sofa for home use (Chapter 1 in edition 1999; Chapter 1 in this edition);
Add and revise some of definitions: add definitions of progressive smouldering, flaming, ignition, mattress, upholstered furniture unit and sofa (2.1, 2.2, 2.5, 2.7, 2.8 and 2.9 in this edition); revise the definition of "resistance to ignition" in the former standard (2.4 in edition 1999, 2.6 in this edition); cancel definition "ignition hazard" (2.3 in edition 1999);
Revise the test position of upholstered furniture in the former standard, and respectively specify the test position of mattress and sofa (8.1.2 in edition 1999, 8.3 in this edition);
Revise the conditioning atmosphere of specimens before the test (7.1 in edition 1999, 7.1 in this edition), and specify the time from conditioning to testing;
Revise the test atmosphere (7.3 in edition 1999, 7.2 in this edition);
Revise the "Assessment of resistance to ignition" (8.1.4 in edition 1999, 8.6 in this edition );
Add the "marking of product" (Chapter 9 in this edition);
Revise "flow diagram for test of resistance to ignition of upholstered furniture" (Appendix A in edition 1999, Appendix A in this edition)
This Part was re-drafted by reference to ISO 8191-1: 1988 "Furniture - Assessment of the ignitability of upholstered furniture - Part 1: Ignition source: smouldering cigarette" and EN 997-1: 1995 "Furniture - Assessment of the ignitability of mattresses and upholstered bed bases - Part 1: Ignition source: smouldering cigarette", and it is not equivalent to ISO 8191-1: 1988 and EN 997-1: 1995 in consistency degree.
