1 Scope
This Part of GB 6067 specifies the basic safety requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, renovation, maintenance, application, discard and inspection of lifting appliances.
This Part is applicable to the general requirements of overhead travelling and portal bridge cranes, mobile cranes, tower cranes, jib cranes, cable cranes and small light lifting equipment. The requirements for special lifting appliances are provided in other parts of GB 6067.
This Part is not applicable to floating cranes, deck cranes and manned lifting equipment. If no basic safety problems are involved, other lifting appliances may also refer to this Part.

3 Metal Structure
3.1 General
3.1.1 In design of the metal structure of lifting appliances, the materials, structural styles and construction measures shall be selected appropriately so as to meet the requirements for strength (including fatigue strength), stability, rigidity, safety, fire prevention and corrosion protection during the transport, installation and application process.
3.1.2 In the design documents of metal structure, the type of steels and model of connecting materials shall be indicated; for the important loaded members, the mechanical property, chemical composition and other additional guarantee items of steels shall also be indicated. Moreover, the weld types and weld quality level as required shall be indicated.
3.2 Materials
The steels for the load-bearing structural members of lifting appliances shall be selected according to the requirements of Article 5.3 in GB/T 3811-2008.
3.3 Requirements for welding structural members
3.3.1 The fabrication or installation and construction organizations of metal structure shall formulate their own technical specification for welding of steel structure according to JGJ 81 or relevant standards.
3.3.2 The manufacturers or installation and construction organizations shall carry out welding procedure qualification on the combination condition of various first-adopted parameters, such as steel model, welding material, welding method, joint type, welding position, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) process and welding parameter as well as preheating or post-heating process, etc.
3.3.3 The welding materials of structural members shall meet the following requirements:
a) The electrode model for manual welding shall correspond to the mechanical property of base metal, and shall meet the requirements of GB/T 5117 or GB/T 5118. The welding wire shall meet the requirements of GB/T 8110 or GB/T 5293.
b) The welding wire and corresponding welding flux for automatic or semi-automatic welding shall correspond to the mechanical property of base metal, and shall meet the relevant requirements of GB/T 5293 and GB/T 12470;
c) The argon for gas shielding welding shall meet the requirements of GB/T 4842, with the purity not be less than 99.95%; the carbon dioxide in use shall meet the requirements of HG/T 2537.
3.3.4 The weld grade of fully-penetrated melt welding joints shall meet the grading requirements of Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3 in JB/T 10559.
3.3.5 The internal imperfections of welds shall be examined according to the following requirements:
