Explosion Proof Electrical Products
1 Scope
This Rules applies to certification of various explosion-proof electrical products, including explosion-proof electric machinery, explosion-proof electric pumps, explosion-proof distribution boxes, explosion-proof instrument boxes, explosion-proof switches, control and protection products, explosion-proof electric actuators, solenoid valves, ventilation equipment, explosion-proof accessories, Ex components, explosion-proof instrumentation, sensors, safety barriers.
2 Certification mode
The certification mode is: product type test + initial factory inspection + post-certification supervision.
The basic certification processes include:
a. Application for certification
b. Product type test
c. Initial factory inspection
d. Evaluation and approval of certification results
e. Post-certification supervision
3 Application for certification
3.1 Certification unit division
In principle, products of the same manufacturer are divided according to the type of protection and the type of product.
There are 8 types of protection, including: flame-proof type (d), increased safety type (e), intrinsic safety type (i), pressurized type (p), type n (n), and encapsulation type (m).
For example, the flame-proof switches of various series and models produced by the same production enterprise shall be considered as a certification unit; the flame-proof switches and composite switches produced by the same production enterprise shall be considered as different certification units; the flame-proof switches and flame-proof circuit breakers produced by the same production enterprise shall be considered as different certification units.
3.2 Submittals for certification application
3.2.1 Application documents
a. Formal application form (application form filled out on the Internet and printed or downloaded and filled out)
b. Factory inspection questionnaire (at the time of initial application)
c. Explosion-proof electrical product description (CQC11-020306.01-2019)
3.2.2 Certification documents
a. Registration certificate of the applicant, manufacturer, and factory, such as business license, organization code (at the time of initial application)
b. Production license (if any)
c. Relevant agreements or contracts executed between the certification client, producer, and production enterprise (such as ODM agreement, OEM agreement, authorization);
d. The power of attorney of the agent (if any)
e. Valid supervision and inspection report or factory inspection report (if any)
f. Other required documents
4 Type test
4.1 Sample
4.1.1 Principle of sample submission
CQC selects a representative sample from the applicant certification unit. In order to ensure that the samples submitted can represent the product scope to be applied for certification in the future, in principle, the products with high complexity is preferred to be submitted, and if necessary additional samples are selected for difference test.

4.1.2 Number of samples
The samples for type test shall are selected and submitted to the designated testing body by the applicant according to the requirements of CQC.
Different series of products shall have samples submitted separately. The same series of products shall have samples submitted separately according to types of protection. When there are no more than four specifications, two samples of any one specification shall be submitted. When there are more than four specifications, two samples respectively for two specifications shall be submitted.
4.1.3 Disposal of samples and documents
After the test is completed and the test report is issued, the relevant test records and related documents are kept by the testing body, and the samples are disposed according to the relevant provisions of CQC.

4.2.2 Test method
The test is carried out according to the test method specified by the relevant standards.
4.2.3 Type test period
Generally, it is 40 work days (the time for rectification and re-inspection by the enterprise due to failed test item is excluded). The period is calculated from the receipt of samples and inspection fees. The period is subject to the longest time for testing key components, important materials and non-metallic materials of the whole machine if need to be randomly tested (calculated on receipt of samples and inspection fees).
4.2.4 Judgment
Any inspection item failed will rendered the sample rejected. Among the two specifications sampled from the same series of products, either of the two failed will render the product series rejected.
The testing is performed by the testing body designated by CQC who shall issue a test report in the prescribed format. After the certification is approved, the testing body is responsible for delivering a test report to the applicant.
5 Initial factory inspection
5.1 Contents
The factory inspection covers factory quality assurance ability and product conformity check.
It also covers the production equipment (Annex 2) and inspection equipment (Annex 3) that the enterprise shall possess for producing explosion-proof electrical products.
5.1.1 Factory quality assurance ability inspection
It shall comply with CQC/F 001-2009 CQC Certification Requirements of Factory Quality Assurance Ability.
5.1.2 Product conformity check
During factory inspection, the conformity of the product under certification shall be checked on the production site, and the following contents shall be focused on.
1) The identification of the product under certification shall conform to the information indicated on the type test report;
2) The structure of the product under certification shall be conform to the type test report and product description;
3) Each series of product shall have at least one specification and model sampled for conformity check. For factory inspection, on-site designated tests may be taken for product safety performance.
5.1.3 The factory quality assurance ability inspection and product conformity check shall cover all products and processing sites under certification.
