Safety certification rules for connecting devices for low-voltage circuits for household and similar purposes 1 Applicable scope The Rules are applicable to connecting devices as separate entities for household and similar purposes. These connecting devices, with a rated voltage of up to 1,000 V AC and a frequency of up to 1,000 Hz or a rated voltage of up to 1,500V DC, shall be able to electrically connect two or more copper conductors rigid (solid or stranded) or flexible, having a cross-sectional area of 0.2 mm2 to 35 mm2 (inclusive) and equivalent AWG conductors. These rigid or flexible copper conductors shall comply with GB/T 3956-2008 or GB/T 18213-2000. The products include: a connecting devices with screw-type clamping units b connecting devices with screwless-type clamping units c connecting devices with insulation piercing clamping units d twist-on connecting devices e connecting boxes and enclosures (this part is applicable to junction and/or tapping connecting boxes) Note: The Rules are not applicable to products with separate flat quick-connect terminations. 2 Certification mode The safety certification modes for connecting devices for household and similar purposes are as follows: Mode 1: type test + initial factory inspection + post-certification supervision. The basic certification steps include: a application for certification b type test c initial factory inspection d assessment and approval of certification results e post-certification supervision Mode 2: type test + post-certification supervision The basic certification steps include: a application for certification b type test c assessment and approval of certification results d post-certification supervision Manufacturing enterprises holding product certification issued by CQC (such as safety certification and energy conservation certification) may adopt Mode 2 for certification, and other manufacturing enterprises shall adopt Mode 1. 3 Application for certification 3.1 Certification unit division In principle, the certification unit is divided according to the type, structure, material, rated connection capacity, rated insulation voltage, protection against electric shock, maximum operating ambient temperature, water resistance and protection against the ingress of solid substances, etc. of the clamping units of the connecting devices. Connecting devices with the same type, structure, material, protection against electric shock, maximum operating ambient temperature, water resistance and protection against the ingress of solid substances, but different rated connection capacity and rated insulation voltage in terms of the clamping units may be divided into the same unit. Products from different production sites shall be regarded as different application units. Products produced by different manufacturers shall be regarded as different application units. The type test for the products of the same specification and model may be performed on samples from one factory.
