Safety certification rules for connectors
1 Application scope
The Rules are applicable to the safety certification for connectors with the rated voltage greater than 50 V and not more than 1,000 V AC or DC, and the rated current of a single contact not exceeding 125 A.
For connectors with a rated voltage not exceeding 50 V, the Rules may also be used as a guideline and as a basis for certification. In such cases, reference shall be made to GB/T 16935.1 (idt IEC 60664-1) to determine the electric clearances and creepage distances, and it shall be described in the type test report.
For connectors with a rated current of a single contact greater than 125 A, the Rules may also be used as a guideline and as a basis for certification, and shall be described in the type test report.
The Rules are not applicable to connectors for which clear application safety requirements have been specified.
2 Certification mode
The CQC safety certification mode for connectors is product type test + initial factory inspection + post-certification supervision.
The basic certification steps include:
a) application for certification
b) type test
c) initial factory inspection
d) assessment and approval of certification results
e) post-certification supervision
The post-certification supervision refers to the post-certification follow-up inspection, sampling from the production site for testing or inspection, market sampling testing or inspection, or their combinations.
3 Application for certification
3.1 Certification unit division
Apply for certification by certification unit, which is divided in principle as follows:
a) Series of connectors which are of the same electrical structure, same material, same connection mode, and same electrical rating and are different only in the number of connector groups may be regarded as the same certification unit.
b) Different connector modules with the same connection mode, the same material, similar structure and different ratings (such as connector modules of different ratings with similar connector structure and installation and use mode and the existence of signal connectors and power connectors), after confirmed by the certification agency and supplementary difference test, may be regarded as the same certification unit.
c) Connectors with breaking capability and those without breaking capacity shall be regarded as different certification units.
d) Connectors with different temperature characteristics shall be regarded as different certification units.
e) Connectors with different electrical structures or electrical materials shall be regarded as different certification units. Connectors which only differ in terms of contact coating may be regarded as the same certification unit after supplementary difference test.
f) Products from different production sites shall be regarded as different certification units.
g) Products produced by different manufacturers shall be regarded as different certification units.
3.2 Submittals for certification application
3.2.1 Application documents
a Formal application form (which is to be filled on-line,or downloaded as a blank application form and filled out)
