本标准规定了合成纤维原料切片阻燃性能试验方法--氧指数法。
本标准适用于聚酯（PET）切片、聚己内酰胺树脂切片和聚己二酰己二胺树脂切片氧指数的测定。其他合成纤维原料切片可参照使用。
本标准仅用于测定在实验室条件下材料的燃烧性能，控制产品质量，而不能作为评定实际使用条件下着火危险性的依据，或只能作分析某特殊用途材料发生火灾时所有因素之一。
本标准不适用于评定受热后呈高收缩率的材料。
