本标准规定了测定水中高锰酸盐指数的方法。
本标准适用于饮用水、水源水和地面水的测定，测定范围为0.5- --4.5 m g/L。对污染较重的水，可少取水样，经适当稀释后测定。
本标准不适用于测定工业废水中有机污染的负荷量，如需测定，可用重铬酸钾法测定化学需氧量。
