are equipped to prevent physical and chemical injuries and provide foot protection for the wearer.
Note: This does not include firefighters' boots, shoes to protect against chain saw cutting, shoes to protect against molten metal and molten metal splash, and shoes for motorcycle riders.

4 Classification and styles of foot protection equipment
4.1 Foot protection footwear
4.1.1 Type
Foot protection footwear is classified according to its protective function, product form or usage as follows:
— Safety shoes (boots); —
Chemical resistant shoes (boots);
— Extreme heat protection shoes (boots), such as those used in extremely hot environments such as casting and welding; — Extreme cold protection shoes (boots), such as those used in extremely cold environments such as temperatures below -20°C.
4.1.2 Classification
The classification of foot protection footwear equipment is shown in Table 1.
