General safety requirements for civilian used primary battery 1 Scope This standard specifies the classification, safety performance requirements and marking of civilian used primary batteries, guidelines for purchasing, using, replacing and handling civilian used primary batteries, and guidelines for safety design of battery compartments of the equipment. This standard is applicable to the production, testing and acceptance of various civilian used primary battery with aqueous electrolyte (alkaline and non-alkaline zinc manganese dioxide battery, zinc silver oxide battery, zinc nickel hydroxide battery and alkaline and neutral zinc oxygen battery) and various lithium primary batteries (lithium fluorocarbon battery, lithium manganese dioxide battery, lithium thionyl chloride battery, lithium iron disulfide battery, lithium sulfur dioxide and lithium copper oxide battery, etc.). This standard provides guidance for the safe use and disposal of primary batteries and for the equipment designers to design battery compartments. 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document applies.
