Protective clothing—Performance requirements of chemical protective clothing 1 Scope This standard specifies classification by type and class, and labeling, and establishes the basic technical requirements and test methods for chemical protective clothing. This standard applies to chemical protective clothing required by operating personnel in workplaces and emergency rescue work. This standard is not applicable to chemical protective clothing used in fire fighting and other applications. This standard does not address performance requirements for personal protective equipment such as gloves, protective boots/shoes, face masks, sight windows, eye protection and respiratory devices, unless they are an integral part of the protective clothing and provide corresponding chemical protective performance. Note: The protection objects covered by this standard include gaseous, liquid and solid chemicals. For the purposes of this standard, chemical protective clothing is classified based on the application and protection object, and basic requirements and test methods for the performance of protective clothing at various levels are specified. 2 Normative references The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments to (excluding any corrigendum), or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the document referred to applies.
