GB 24550-2024 Protection of motor vehicle for pedestrians in the event of a collision 1 Scope This document specifies the technical requirements, test regulations, test procedures, as well as the calibration of impactors, the judgment on the same type and the implementation of this standard for protection of motor vehicle for pedestrians in the event of a collision. This document is applicable to Categories M1 and N1 vehicles. Except for the Category M1 vehicles where the driver's seat point R is in front of the transverse plane of the front axle center or the horizontal distance between the driver's seat point R and the transverse plane of the front axle center is not greater than 1,100mm, and the maximum total mass is greater than 2,500kg; also except for the Category N1 vehicles where the driver's seat point R is in front of the transverse plane of the front axle center or the horizontal distance between the driver's seat point R and the transverse plane of the front axle center is not greater than 1,100mm. 2 Normative references The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB 15084 Motor vehicles - Devices for indirect vision - Requirements of performance and installation ISO 3784 Road vehicles - Measurement of impact velocity in collision tests ISO 6487 Road vehicles - Measurement techniques in impact tests - Instrumentation 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 15084 and the following apply. 3.1 normal ride attitude state in which the vehicle is in normal driving condition at 40km/h Note 1: The vehicle in the complete vehicle kerb mass state is placed on the horizontal plane, the simulated counter weight of a driver and an occupant are placed on the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat respectively, the front seat is placed in the middle location of the front and rear travel or the first locking location after the middle location, the tire pressure is as specified by the manufacturer, and the front wheel is in the location of straight line driving. The vehicle suspension is in the condition specified by the manufacturer. Note 2: The complete vehicle kerb mass refers to the total mass of vehicle body, all assembly facilities, electronic & auxiliary facilities (such as fluids, tools, fire extinguishers, standard spare parts, wheel chocks and spare tires) required for normal operation of vehicle, fuel tank (if any, filled with 90% fuel of the total volume), as well as other fluids (replenished to the volume specified by the manufacturer). The counter weight mass of the driver and occupant is 75kg, consisting of a simulated human body mass of 68kg on the seat and a simulated baggage mass of 7kg placed in the rear or front baggage compartment. 3.2 ground reference plane horizontal plane passes the lowest contact points of all tires of the vehicle under the normal ride attitude of the vehicle Note: The plane is real or imaginary. If the vehicle is stationary on the ground, it is in the same plane as the ground level; if the vehicle is lifted from the ground in order to obtain additional clearance under the bumper, it is above ground level. 3.3 front structure all front-end external structures of the vehicle, excluding the windscreen upper beam, A pillar and the structure behind the A pillar Note: Including but not limited to bumper, bonnet, fender, sink, wiper rotating shaft, windscreen, windscreen lower beam, etc. 3.4 bumper exterior members located at the front of the vehicle with the functions of decoration, impact absorption/relief Note: Includes all structures and accessories to protect the vehicle in the event of a low speed frontal collision. 3.5 wrap around distance; WAD geometric trajectory formed by one end of tape on the outer surface of the vehicle front structure when a tape moves laterally along the vehicle front structure in the longitudinal vertical plane under the normal ride attitude of the vehicle Note 1: One end of the tape is in contact with the ground reference plane and in a tensioned state, falling vertically under the front surface of the bumper, and the other end of the tape is in contact with the front structure of the vehicle (see Figure 1). Note 2: Select the tape with appropriate length to determine the 1,000mm wrap around distance (WAD1,000), 1,700mm wrap around distance (WAD1,700) and 2,300mm wrap around distance (WAD2,300).
