Codeofchina.com is in charge of this English translation. In case of any doubt about the English translation, the Chinese original shall be considered authoritative This standard was drafted according to the rules provided by GB/T 1.1-2009. This standard replaces GB 24849-2010: Minimum allowable values of energy efficiency and energy efficiency grades for household and similar microwave ovens. Compared with GB 24849-2010, the main technical changes other than editorial changes are: ——The definition of efficiency for microwave ovens is added (See 3.1); ——The "off mode" (see 3.4 and 3.5 of 2010 edition) and "standby mode" (see 3.5 and 3.4 of 2010 edition) are redefined; ——The "Basic requirements" are deleted (see 4.1 of 2010 edition); ——The definition and requirement of "Evaluating values of energy conservation" are deleted (see 3.2 and 4.7 of 2010 edition); ——The calculation formula of efficiency for microwave ovens is moved to the text (see chapter 4 and A.2.2 of 2010 edition); - The energy efficiency grades are adjusted from 5 energy efficiency grades in the original standard to 3 energy efficiency grades (see 4.1, and 4.2 of 2010 edition); ——The expression of the heating time (t) in the calculation formula of efficiency for microwave ovens (see 4.2) and the method for determination of the heating time (see A.2.1) are defined; ——The method for determination of the geometrical center of the microwave oven chamber is added (see B.3); ——The test methods for off mode power and standby mode power are revised (see Appendix C, and the Appendix C of 2010 edition). This standard was proposed by the Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection Department of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This standard belongs under the National Technical Committee on Energy Fundamentals and Management of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 20). This standard will replace the following edition(s): ——GB 24849-2010.   Minimum allowable values of energy efficiency and energy efficiency grades for household and similar microwave ovens 1. Scope This standard specifies the minimum allowable values of energy efficiency, the energy efficiency grades, the test methods and the inspection rules for household and similar microwave ovens (hereinafter referred to as microwave ovens). This standard is applicable to the microwave ovens with maximum rated input power of 2500 W or less, utilizing ISM band electromagnetic energy at frequency of 2450 MHz and heating the objects in the chamber with resistance heating elements, including combination microwave ovens. This standard is not applicable to microwave ovens for commercial or industrial use, or microwave ovens with a range hood. Note: ISM band is the electromagnetic frequency range determined by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and used in the standard CISPR 11 developed by the International Special Committee or Radio Interference (CISPR). 2 Normative References The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. Terms and definitions The terms defined in GB 4706.21, GB/T 18800 and IEC 62301 and the following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 3.1 Efficiency for microwave ovens The ratio of the effective energy output to the energy input of the microwave oven, expressed in percentage (%). 3.2 Minimum allowable values of energy efficiency for microwave ovens The minimum allowable efficiency values for microwave ovens under the test conditions stated in the standard, provided that the standby mode power, off mode power and maximum allowable values of energy consumption for grill-function are met, expressed in percentage (%). 3.3 Maximum allowable values of energy consumption for grill-function The maximum allowable values of energy consumption for the grill function of microwave ovens under the test conditions stated in this standard, in watt-hour (W.h). 3.4 Off mode The mode in which the microwave oven is connected to the electric power supply but none of the standby mode functions or main functions are available. The indicator light only for indicating that the microwave oven is in the off state also belongs to the off mode. 3.5 Standby mode The mode in which the microwave oven is connected to the power supply and provides one or more of the following frequently used or protective functions: - Activation of other modes via remote control, internal sensor or timer (including activation and deactivation of mode); - Continuous functions: information or status display including clock; - Continuous functions: sensor-based functions. 3.6 Off mode power The active power of microwave oven under the off mode, in watt (W). 3.7 Standby mode power The active power of microwave oven under the standby mode, in watt (W). 4. Energy efficiency grades 4.1 Energy efficiency grades of microwave ovens Energy efficiency of microwave ovens is assigned to 3 grades (see Table 1), among which grade 1 is the highest. The efficiency values, off mode power, standby mode power and maximum allowable values of energy consumption for grill-function of the products at various grades shall meet the requirements of Table 1.
