本标准适用于在任意频率下用开短路法(简称任意频率法)测量制造长度高频对称通信电缆(包括综合电缆中的高频四线组和高频线对)的衰减常数和在谐振频率下用开短路法(简称谐振频率法)测量同轴通信电缆中同轴对的衰减常数。被测电缆的衰减范围为10dB以内。测试频率范围为2.5MHz以下。如果测试条件允许，可扩大频率范围。
