Codeofchina.com is in charge of this English translation. In case of any doubt about the English translation, the Chinese original shall be considered authoritative. This document is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents. This document is Part 5 of GB/T 10810 Uncut finished spectacle lenses. The following parts of GB/T 10810 have been issued: ——Part 1: Single-vision and multifocal; ——Part 2: Power-variation; ——Part 3: Transmittance test methods; ——Part 4: Anti-reflective coatings test methods; ——Part 5: Abrasion-resistant of surfaces test methods. This document replaces GB 10810.5-2012 Uncut finished spectacle lenses - Part 5: Requirements of abrasion-resistant for spectacle lens surfaces. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB 10810.5-2012: a) The abrasion resistance requirements for the lens surface (convex side) have been deleted (see Clause 4 of Edition 2012); b) The sand falling test method has been added (see Clause 6 hereof). This document is modified in relation to ISO 8980-5:2005 Ophthalmic optics - Uncut finished spectacle lenses - Part 5: Minimum requirements for spectacle lens surfaces claimed to be abrasion-resistant. The following structural changes have been made with respect to ISO 8980-5:2005: ——Clause 4 of ISO 8980-5:2005 has been deleted; ——The content regarding the test ambient temperature in 5.2 of ISO 8980-5:2005 has been moved to 4.1 "Test conditions", and the content concerning sample cleaning has been moved to 4.4 "Test procedure"; ——Figure A.1 in Annex A and Figure C.1 in Annex C to ISO 8980-5:2005 have been adjusted to Figure 1 in 4.2.1 and Figure 2, respectively; ——Figure 1 and Figure 2 in 5.1.5 of ISO 8980-5:2005 have been moved to Annex A; ——Annex B to ISO 8980-5:2005 has been deleted. The technical differences between this document and ISO 8980-5:2005 and their justifications are as follows: ——Normative references to GB/T 26397 have been used to replace ISO 13666 and ISO 8980-4, and the term "abrasion resistance" and its definition have been deleted (see Clause 3 hereof) to align with China's technical conditions and enhance operability; ——Normative reference to GB/T 6031 has been used to replace ISO 48:2010 (see 4.2.2 hereof) to adapt to China's technical conditions and improve operability; ——Surface-reinforced abrasion-resistant test and sand falling test methods have been added (see Clauses 5 and 6 hereof) to enrich the test methods and increase their selectability; ——A quantitative percentage, "haze value" has been introduced to characterize abrasion resistance (see 5.6 hereof) to enhance the operability of the test methods; ——Simplified diagrams of steel wool and abrasion tester have been added (see Annex B hereto) to improve visual clarity and facilitate viewing and use. The following editorial changes have been made in this document: ——To align with China's existing standards, the standard title has been changed to Uncut finished spectacle lenses - Part 5: Abrasion-resistant of surfaces test methods; ——The informative annex "Verification of test conditions" has been deleted (see Annex B to ISO 8980-5:2005). The issuing body of this document shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. This document was proposed by China National Light Industry Council. This document is under the jurisdiction of SAC/TC 596 National Technical Committee on Optometry of Standardization Administration of China. This document was firstly issued in 2012, and this is the first revision.  Introduction The primary functions of lenses are to correct vision and protect the eyes. As a crucial component in assembled eyeglasses, they meet the visual needs of users in different situations and are of great significance to their visual health. GB/T 10810 Uncut finished spectacle lenses aims to standardize the production and use of lenses, and improve their quality and safety. GB/T 10810, as a recommended national standard formulated in support of the mandatory national standards, consists of five parts. ——Part 1: Single-vision and multifocal. Its purpose is to safeguard the quality evaluation criteria by standardizing the requirements and test methods for single-vision and multifocal lenses. ——Part 2: Power-variation. Its purpose is to safeguard the quality evaluation criteria by standardizing the requirements and test methods for power-variation lenses. ——Part 3: Transmittance test methods. Its purpose is to establish test methods for the transmittance performance of lenses and set up their quality evaluation criteria. ——Part 4: Anti-reflective coatings test methods. Its purpose is to establish test methods for anti-reflective coatings on lenses and set up their quality evaluation criteria. ——Part 5: Abrasion-resistant of surfaces test methods. Its purpose is to establish multiple test methods for the abrasion resistance of lenses and set up their quality evaluation criteria. Uncut finished spectacle lenses - Part 5: Abrasion-resistant of surfaces test methods 1 Scope This document describes the apparatus and equipment, samples, test procedures, and test data processing for the surface abrasion resistance test of lenses. This document is applicable to the surface abrasion resistance test of lenses. 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document.
