本标准规定了船用号型的分类和标记、要求、试验方法、检验规则、产品标志、包装和贮存。本标准适用于船上目力通信的各种船用号型的设计、制造和验收。 本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ１０８４１—１９８９《船用号型》。
本标准与ＧＢ／Ｔ１０８４１—１９８９相比，主要有下列变化：
———增加了试验方法；
———修改了检验规则。
