GB12476的本部分规定了粉尘与空气混合物被高压直流电火花点燃所需最小点燃能量的测定方法。这一试验方法旨在建立确定电气放电对可燃性粉尘与空气混合物是否具有点燃能力的数据。被试粉尘呈现的状态(颗粒尺寸、含湿量等)应代表实际使用状态,以便能对实际产生的危险进行评定。本方法测定的点燃能量可与其他粉尘的点燃能量进行比较,用以评定电气或静电放电引起的相应点燃危险,从而确定电气设备能否适合安装于可燃性粉尘存在的场所。
本试验方法不适用于公认的火炸药、黑火药、黄色炸药、无氧燃烧的炸药、自燃物质,或在某些条件下有类似表现形式的物质或这些物质的混合物。如果因爆炸特性而怀疑危险存在,可将少量上述粉尘放到GB12476.8―2010中描述的设备的加热表面上,加热到400℃来得到指标。
