本标准根据ASTM D3916-02、ASTM D4476-3、ASTM D3914-02及ASTM D4475-02重新起草。
本标准代替GB/T 13096.1-1991《拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆拉伸性能试验方法》、GB/T 13096.2-1991《拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆弯曲性能试验方法》、GB/T 13096.3-1991《拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆面内剪切强度试验方法》和GB/T 13096.4-1991《拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆表观水平剪切强度短梁剪切试验方法》。
本标准规定了拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆力学性能试验的拉伸性能、弯曲性能、面内剪切强度、表观水平剪切强度试验方法。
本标准适用于测定直径为（3~25）mm的拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆的闰伸性能、直径大于13mm的拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆的弯曲性能、直径为（16~32）mm的拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆的面内剪切强度和拉挤玻璃纤维增强塑料杆的表观水平剪切强度。
本标准与GB/T 13096.1~13096.4-1991相比主要变化如下：
——将GB/T 13096.1~13096.4-1991合并为一个标准；
——增加了规范性引用文件（见第2章）；
——修改了加载速率。
