GB/T 15171-2025 Test method for sealing performance of package
1 Scope
This document describes two test methods for sealing performance of package: underwater bubble method and vacuum decay method, and specifies the test principles, specimens, apparatus, conditioning of specimens and test conditions, test procedures, test results, and test reports for both methods.
This document is applicable to non-vacuum packages, as well as to non-vacuum sealed packages without contents for testing sealing performance.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
flexible package
package whose shape is likely to change after the contents are added or removed
[Source: GB/T 4122.1-2008, 2.8, modified]
3.2
rigid package
package whose shape remains essentially unchanged after the contents are added or removed
[Source: GB/T 4122.1-2008, 2.7, modified]
3.3
sealing performance
characteristic of packages to prevent the entry of other substances or the escape of contents
3.4
vacuum decay rate
degree of change in vacuum degree over time under a specified pressure difference
Note: The unit is Pa/s.
3.5
target vacuum degree
intended level of vacuum to be achieved
Note: The unit is kPa.
3.6
reference vacuum degree
lower limit of the vacuum degree maintained within the test chamber during the equilibrium period of the test, after the target vacuum degree has been reached
Note: The unit is kPa.
