本标准参考国际电信联盟电信标准部门（ITU-T）建议G.707/Y.1322:2007《同步数字体系（SDH）的网络节点接口》第6.2、第9章和第11章。编写规则采用我国标准化工作导则的有关规定。
本标准代替GB/T 15409-1994《同步数字体系信号的帧结构》。
本标准对GB/T 15409-1994的具体修订内容如下：
———根据我国标准化工作导则的有关规定，原标准第1章“主题内容与适用范围”修改为第1章“范
围”，第2章“术语”修改为第3章“术语和定义”，另外增加了第2章“规范性引用文件”和第4章“缩略语”；
———第3章“术语和定义”中增加了同步数字体系、同步传输模块、净负荷、网络节点接口、通道开
销、支路单元、SDH再生段、相邻级联和虚级联等术语和定义；
———第4章“同步数字体系信号的帧结构”修改为第５ 章“同步数字体系的帧结构”，同时按照
ITU-T建议G.707/Y.1322:2007增加了对STM-0、STM-64、STM-256帧结构的相关规范；
———按照ITU-T建议G.707/Y.1322:2007T第9.3，增加了第5.4“POH 字节描述”；
———按照ITU-T建议G.707/Y.1322:20079第11章内容，增加了5.5“级联”。
