本标准是对ＧＢ／Ｔ１６９８１—１９９７《信息技术　办公设备　复印规格表中应包含的基本内容》的修订。本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ１６９８１—１９９７《信息技术　办公设备　复印规格表中应包含的基本内容》。 本标准规定了复印机规格表中应包含的基本内容，便于用户对不同机器的性能直接进行比较。在没有其他标准可用时，本标准还指定了有关复印机的测试，以便检验在规格表中所给的参数。
本标准适用于在办公室环境中进行操作的复印机，在本标准中不考虑要求具备特殊装备的房间或专门培训操作员进行操作的复印机。本标准与ＧＢ／Ｔ１６９８１—１９９７相比，修改的主要技术内容如下：
———在“范围”一章中增加了“在没有其他标准可用时，本标准还指定了有关复印机的测试，以便检验在规格表中所给的参数”；
———在第３章后面增加了第４ 章“测试及测量条件”；同时删除了本标准第一版本中ｊ的注１和注２；
———在规格表中增加了参数测量的定义和方法；
———增加了附录Ｂ“关于规格表的设计实例”；
———在规范性引用文件中增加“ＩＳＯ５５４：１９７６ 和ＣＩＳＰＲ ｐｕｂ．２２”，并删除了“ＩＳＯ３０６６：１９９８”文件；
———附录Ａ中的两个标准改为对应的国家标准。
