3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 18259-2018 and the following apply.
3.1
wood-based panels
panels or formed products, which are composed of material units, made from wood or non-wood plant fibers as the main raw materials, with or without adhesive and other additive applied
Note: Mainly including plywood, particleboard, fiberboard, etc.
[Source: GB/T 18259-2018, 2.1].
3.2
decorated wood-based panels
panels of which the wood-based panel is used as the base, coated or finished with various decorative materials
[Source: GB/T 18259-2018, 2.13].
4 Test methods
4.1 Measurement of dimension of specimen
4.1.1 Method description
The thickness, length and width of the specimen are determined by linear measurement.
4.1.2 Instruments
4.1.2.1 Micrometer, or similar measuring tool, of which the measuring range may be selected according to the thickness of the specimen, the measuring head diameter is 6.0mm to 20.0mm, and the division value is 0.01mm.
4.1.2.2 Vernier caliper, of which the measuring range shall meet the length requirements of the specimen, and the division value shall be less than or equal to 0.05mm.
4.1.3 Measurement procedures
4.1.3.1 Measuring location and measuring point
The number and location of measuring points are specified in the relevant test methods.
4.1.3.2 Thickness measurement
Select the diameter of the micrometer measuring head according to the panel type. In principle, the measuring head with a large diameter shall be used for low-density panels and panels with rough surfaces. Slowly clamp the measuring surface of the micrometer on the specimen (the pressure applied is about 0.02MPa to 0.05MPa), so that the specimen is in close contact with the measuring surface, and read the data.
4.1.3.3 Measurement of length and width
Slowly clamp the vernier caliper on the specimen, with the angle between the caliper and the surface of specimen is about 45° (see Figure 1), so as to accurately read and record the data.
Figure 1 Measurement method for length and width
4.1.4 Expression of results
Thickness: in mm, accurate to 0.01mm;
Length and width: in mm, accurate to 0.1mm.
4.2 Determination of density
4.2.1 Method description
The ratio of the mass of the specimen to its volume is determined.
4.2.2 Instruments
4.2.2.1 Micrometer, of which the measuring range is 0mm to 25mm, 25mm to 50mm or 50mm to 75mm, and the division value is 0.01mm.
4.2.2.2 Vernier caliper, of which the measuring range is 0mm to 150mm, and the division value is less than or equal to 0.05mm.
4.2.2.3 Balance: with a sensitivity of 0.01g.
4.2.3 Requirements for specimen
4.2.3.1 Dimension of specimen
Generally, the specimen length l=(50±1)mm and width b=(50±1)mm.
For hollow structural panels with holes and honeycombs, the pipe holes are parallel to the length or width of the specimen, which is at least twice the unit length or width of each pipe hole section (i.e. twice the pipe diameter plus twice the thickness of wall panels), and the specimen shall have a symmetrical cross section, as shown in Figure 2.
