本次修订的GB/T 18856《水煤浆试验方法》分为7个部分，本部分为GB/T 18856的第3部分。
本部分代替GB/T 18856.3-2002《水煤浆质量试验方法第3部分：水煤浆筛分试验方法》。
本部分规定了水煤浆筛分试验的仪器设备、测定步骤、结果计算及方法精密度。
本部分适用于各种水煤浆。
本部分与GB/T 18856.3-2002相比主要作了如下修改：
——将规范性引用文件中的GB/T 6003（所有部分）明确为GB/T 6003.1、GB/T 6003.2、GB/T 6003.3，并分别标明了与其等效的国际标准（见第2章）；
——调整了“结果计算”章节的结构和改变了小于0.075mm的物料质量分数的计算公式；同时纠正了原公式（4）中的错误（见第9章），
