Road vehicles - Recyclability and recoverability rate - Requirement and calculation method 1 Scope This document specifies the symbols of recyclability and recoverability rates of the road vehicles, and requirement and calculation method for recyclability and recoverability rates of the vehicles. This document is applicable to vehicles in Categories M1 and N1, and may serve as a reference for other vehicles. 2 Normative references The following documents contain requirements which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 3730.2-1996 Road vehicle - Masses - Vocabulary and codes GB/T 26988 Marks for recoverability of automobile parts GB/T 26989 Automobile recovery - Terminology GB/T 33460 Specifications for compiling dismantling manual of end-of-life vehicles GB/T 34490 Recycled sintered neodymium iron boron permanent magnets QC/T 797 Material identification & marking of automotive plastic, rubber & thermoplastic elastomer parts 3 Terms and definitions For the purpose of this document, terms and definitions given in GB/T 3730.2-1996 and GB/T 26989 and the following apply. 3.1 vehicle mass mV total mass of the vehicle in operation without driver, passenger or goods, but with the fuel tank filled to at least 90% of the capacity and having accompanied tools and spare wheel(s) (if provided by the vehicle manufacturer as standard outfits) [Source: GB/T 3730.2-1996, 4.6, modified]  3.2 proven recycling technology current automobile material recycling technology available for mass production or trial production 3.3 recyclability rate Rcyc percentage of the mass of reusable and/or recyclable parts to the kerb mass of the vehicle 3.4 recoverability rate Rcov percentage of the mass of reusable and/or recyclable and/or recoverable parts to the kerb mass of the vehicle 4 Symbols For the purposes of this document, the symbols listed in Table 1 apply. Table 1 Symbol and description of mass variables Symbol Description mP Mass of materials taken into account at the pretreatment step mD Mass of materials taken into account at the dismantling step mM Mass of metals taken into account at the metals separation step mTr Mass of materials taken into account at the non-metallic residue treatment step and which can be considered as recyclable mTe Mass of materials taken into account at the non-metallic residue treatment step and which can be considered for energy recovery mV Vehicle mass All mass units are expressed in kilograms, to the nearest 2 decimal places 5 Requirements for recyclability and recoverability rates of the vehicles 5.1 Recyclability rate requirement for vehicles The recyclability rate of vehicles in Categories M1 and N1 shall not be less than 85%. 5.2 Recoverability rate requirement for vehicles The recoverability rate of vehicles in Categories M1 and N1 shall not be less than 95%.   6 Calculation method for recyclability and recoverability rates 6.1 General 6.1.1 The recyclability and recoverability rate shall be calculated based on the vehicle material data collected from the supply chain and proven recycling technology. 6.1.2 Plastic, rubber, and thermoplastic elastomer components shall be marked with the material type on the surface in accordance with the requirements of QC/T 797. Components of other material types shall be marked with the recoverability mark on the exterior surface, or such information about recoverability and relevant technology of the parts shall be described in technical documents such as the dismantling manual of end-of-life vehicles in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 26988, where the dismantling manual of end-of-life vehicles shall be compiled in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 33460. 6.1.3 The calculation of the recyclability and recoverability rates is carried out through the following four steps:
