本标冷自实施之日起，JB/T 5962-1991《推土机推土铲的容量标定》同时废止。
本标准等同采用ISO 9246：1988《土方机械履带式和轮胎式推土机制推土铲容量标定》（英文版）。本标准规定了推土铲容量的计算方法，目的用于在推土机（按GB/T 8498的定义）的商业文件中，对推土铲容量提供统一的比较方法。本标准不用于预测实际工况下的推土机生产率或可能观测到的各种特定工况下的推土机生产率，在这些场合下确定推土机的生产率，需考虑其他的参数，如推土铲效率、推土机功率、牵引力、土壤特性、地形、操作者技术水平和工作循环等。
本标准适用于GB/T 8590定义的推土机上安装的各类推土铲，包括直推土铲、角推土铲、半U形和U形推土铲。
