3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following term and definition apply:

mites
a kind of tiny animal with spherical or elongated body, belonging to arthropoda, arachnoidea and order acari, with the basic structure of the polypide consisting of gnathosoma and idiosoma, with four pairs of feet for adult and nymph and three pairs of feet for larva

3.2
anti-mites activity
performance of the product to repel mites or inhibit the growth and reproduction of mites
3.3
control sample
material used to verify the test mite growth conditions which is made of the same material as the specimen but without anti-mite finishing or, if necessary, is 100% cotton fabrics without any treatment, steamed and boiled at high temperature and washed with distilled water
Note: It’s proved that the standard cotton adjacent fabric for color fastness test is suitable as a control sample after being steamed and boiled at high temperature and washed with distilled water.
4 Safety precautions
Mites can easily spread under test conditions and pose a hazard to the test personnel or others, so the test shall be conducted by trained personnel in a defined test environment.
