GB/T 24434-2025 Commode chairs
1 Scope
This document defines the terms and definitions of commode chairs, specifies the classification, technical requirements, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of commode chairs, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document is applicable to the design, production and testing of fixed commode chairs, folding commode chairs, commode chairs with castors, simple commode chairs and other commode chairs with a user weight of no less than 35 kg and no more than 150kg as specified by the manufacturer.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 16432 and the following apply.
3.1
commode chair
chair with collection container for urination and defecation, with or without castors
Note: It includes sanitary chair, toilet wheelchair and toilet chair for shower.
3.2
fixed commode chair
non-foldable commode chair (3.1) composed of arm support, seat, commode pan and frame
3.3
folding commode chair
foldable commode chair (3.1) composed of arm support, seat, commode pan and frame
3.4
commode chair with castors
movable commode chair (3.1) composed of back support, arm support, seat, commode pan, frame and castors
3.5
simple commode chair
commode chair (3.1), also known as the toilet stool, composed of seat, commode pan and frame
3.6
seat
component connected to the commode pan of commode chair (3.1) for a person to sit on and support
3.7
back support
component on the commode chair (3.1) for the back to lean against
3.8
arm support
component that supports the arm on the commode chair (3.1) to facilitate getting on and off the commode chair
3.9
frame
rack that supports the commode chair (3.1), keeping it placed stably and bearing weight
3.10
foot support
component on the commode chair that supports the human feet
3.11
commode pan
container for collecting and storing human excreta
3.12
maximum user mass
the maximum allowable user mass specified by the manufacturer
4 Classification
According to structure, common types of commode chairs include fixed commode chair, folding commode chair, commode chair with castors and simple toilet chair, as shown in Figures 1 to 4.

5 Technical requirements
5.1 General
5.1.1 The manufacturer shall provide the main dimensions and maximum user mass of the commode chair, with an allowable error of ±5%.
5.1.2 If the commode chair is disassemblable for the convenience of transportation or storage, after reassembly, there shall be no functional abnormalities or dangerous conditions.
5.1.3 If the commode chair is disassemblable for the convenience of transportation or storage, the fasteners loosened or removed for disassembly shall not be disposable.
Note: Disposable fasteners include wood screws and self-tapping screws.
5.1.4 Commode chair with castors shall be equipped with easy-to-operate brakes.
5.1.5 For commode chair with adjustable height, the increment shall not exceed 25mm.
5.2 Appearance requirements
5.2.1 The surfaces accessible to users shall not have exposed sharp edges or protrusions.
5.2.2 The surface of painted and powder-coated parts shall be smooth and flat, with uniform color, and shall not have defects such as exposed base, bubbling, sagging, peeling, or damage.
5.2.3 The surface of welded parts shall be smooth and flat, free from defects such as weld beads, pits, missed welds, cracks, and burn-through.
5.2.4 The surface of injection molded parts shall be smooth, free of defects and have uniform color.
5.2.5 All soft packaging parts of commode chair shall be soft in texture, neatly cut, and sewn firmly and durable.
5.2.6 The inner surface of commode pan of commode chair shall be smooth, flat and easy to clean, and its installation and disassembly shall be flexible and convenient.
