本标准规定了饮用和非饮用热水（达110℃）供应管道用的硫化橡胶密封圈的材料要求。
本标准规定的各种密封圈的识别代码是根据密封圈的型式、用途及要求确定的(见表3)。
本标准对成品密封圈也规定了一般要求。对于特殊用途所需的额外要求应在相应的产品标准中规定。应提请注意的是，管道接口的工作性能与密封圈材料的性能、密封圈的几何形状及管接口的结构有关。如适用，本标准应同规定管接口工作性能的产品标准一起使用。
