1 Scope
This standard specifies the types and basic parameters, requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as marking, packaging and storage of hydraulic bottle jacks with a rated capacity of not greater than 500t.
This standard is applicable to the hydraulic bottle jacks (hereinafter referred to as jacks) used in automobile, machinery, shipbuilding, construction, metallurgy and other industries.
2 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

hydraulic bottle jack
series lifting equipment using plunger or hydraulic cylinder as rigid lifting piece to lift heavy objects on the carrying surface within its stroke

rated capacity

maximum design load that can be jacked within the full stroke under normal working conditions

lowest height

vertical distance from the jack carrying surface to the bottom bearing surface when the piston rod and adjusting screw are fully retracted

lifting height

vertical distance of jack carrying surface from the position at lowest height to the reliable limited position

adjusting height

vertical distance of the jack adjusting screw from the fully retracted position to the reliable limited position

load limiting devices
safety devices for protecting the jack hydraulic system from overload and impact, also known as overflow valves
