This document defines terms and definitions related to remanufacturing.
This document is applicable to remanufacturing research, design, engineering implementation and related services and management, etc.

3 Basic terms
3.1
remanufacturing
process of professionally repairing and/or upgrading products that are no longer used due to functional damage or technical obsolescence, so that their functions, quality characteristics, safety, environmental protection and economy reach or exceed the level of new prototype products

core
product unable or unsuitable for continued use due to functional damage, technical obsolescence or expiration of service life, but containing reuse value and meet remanufacturing requirements
3.3
restorative remanufacturing
remanufacturing that restores the quality characteristics of remanufactured products to the level of new prototype products.
3.4
upgrade remanufacturing
remanufacturing that enables remanufactured products to have more functions or higher quality features than new prototypes
3.5
remanufacturability
properties and capabilities of a core that can be remanufactured
3.6
remanufacturability assessment
process of comprehensively assessing waste products from the aspects of technology, economy, environment, safety and service to determine whether they meet the requirements of remanufacturing

design for remanufacturability
design of its remanufacturable properties and capabilities considered in the product design stage
Note: The attributes and capabilities of remanufacturing include whether the product meets the capability requirements of remanufacturing from the perspectives of economy, technology, environment and safety. A design that considers its remanufacturability during the product design stage.
