Adaptive front-lighting system for motor vehicles 1 Scope This standard specifies the technical requirements, installation, test methods and inspection rules for adaptive front-lighting systems (hereinafter referred to as "AFS or the system") for motor vehicles. This standard is applicable to the adaptive front-lighting systems for categories M and N motor vehicles. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. Such systems consist of the "system control", one or more "supply and operating device(s)", if any, and the "installation units" of the right side and of the left side of the vehicle 3.2 class of a passing beam designation of a passing beam, identified according to the demands of lighting on different roads 3.2.1 class C of a passing beam basic passing beam 3.2.2 class V of a passing beam passing beam for use in lit areas such as towns 3.2.3 class E of a passing beam passing beam for use on roads such as expressways 3.2.4 class W of a passing beam passing beam for use in adverse conditions such as wet road 3.3 mode front-lighting function provided by a system, which means a beam within the range specified in 5.3.2 and 5.3.3, either for one of the passing beam classes or for the driving beam, designed and specified by the manufacturer for adaptation to dedicated vehicle and road conditions
