1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements for packaging, marking, transportation and storage of aluminium and aluminium alloy processed products.
This document is applicable to processed products such as aluminium and aluminium alloy ingots, sheets, strips, foils, tubes, bars, profiles, wires and forgings, and is also applicable to powder products.

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 4122.1, GB/T 4122.3, GB/T 4122.4 and GB/T 8005.1 apply.
4 Packaging
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Packaging materials
4.1.1.1 Packaging materials mainly include paper products, wood, metals, plastics, composite materials and jute products. Typical packaging materials are shown in Annex A. All packaging materials shall comply with environmental protection requirements and shall be recyclable, reusable or degradable.
4.1.1.2 Packaging materials in direct contact with the products shall have a water-soluble pH that is neutral, weakly acidic or weakly alkaline. The moisture content of paper shall not be greater than 10 %, and the moisture content of wood shall not be greater than 20 %.
4.1.1.3 Wood used for export packing cases shall comply with the relevant entry-exit management requirements.
4.1.1.4 There shall be no chemical reaction or adhesive transfer between the protective film and the products.
4.1.2 Packing cases, racks and pallets
4.1.2.1 Packing cases, racks and pallets may be made of wood, metal or other materials, and shall have sufficient strength and be resistant to damage.
4.1.2.2 The dimensions of packing cases, racks and pallets shall meet the product size requirements, and the products shall not shift or be squeezed within the packing cases, racks or pallets. When shipped in containers, the dimensions of packing cases, racks and pallets shall match the container dimensions.
4.1.2.3 The height of the base supports of packing cases, racks and pallets shall meet the robustness requirements and shall also meet the operational requirements of cranes and forklifts.
4.1.2.4 Packing cases, racks and pallets shall be neat, clean and dry.
4.1.2.5 Nails on wooden packing cases, racks and pallets shall be arranged in a staggered pattern. Nail heads shall be driven flat, and nail points shall be bent over. There shall be no protruding nails or missing nails. Lifting points on wooden packing cases, racks and pallets should preferably be fitted with protective steel angles for hoisting and marked accordingly. The timber sections at lifting points and connection points shall not have dead knots that affect strength. The crack length or depth of a single timber section shall not exceed half of its length or thickness.
4.1.2.6 Metal packing cases, racks and pallets shall be securely welded (riveted), with no missing welds (rivets), and weld scars (rivets) shall be smoothed.
4.1.3 Corrosion protection treatment
4.1.3.1 The quality of rust preventive oil shall meet the requirements of SH/T 0692. The viscosity of rust preventive oil shall be appropriately adjusted according to product characteristics and ambient temperature, and the moisture content of rust preventive oil shall not be greater than 0.03 %.
4.1.3.2 Products not coated with rust preventive oil or not covered with film shall be packed with desiccants during sea transportation.
4.1.3.3 When the purchaser has special requirements for vapour-phase corrosion protection, they shall be determined by agreement between the supplier and the purchaser and stated in the order.
4.1.4 Other requirements
4.1.4.1 Packaging bundling shall be carried out using strapping bands. When steel strapping is used, plastic pads or paperboard shall be placed at the corners or buckles where the steel strapping comes into direct contact with the products for protection.
4.1.4.2 The specific packaging methods and treatment procedures for products shall comply with the requirements of the corresponding product standards or orders.
