Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Mixtures of alginate fiber with certain other fibers 1 Scope This document specifies the method for determining the content of the alginate fiber in two-component mixtures of alginate fiber with certain other fibers after removing non-fibrous substances using the chemical analysis method. This document is applicable to two-component mixtures of alginate fiber with cotton, hemp, cupro fiber, viscose fiber, modal fiber, lyocell fiber, acrylic fiber, polyester fiber, polyamide fiber, elastane, mulberry silk, wool, cashmere, acetate fiber, triacetate fiber or polylactide fiber. Note: See Annex A for the qualitative identification method of alginate fibers. 2 Normative references The following documents contain requirements which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. The residue is collected, cleaned, dried, and weighed, and its mass, corrected if necessary, is expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The percentage of the alginate fiber is found by difference. 4.2 Reagents Use reagents specified in GB/T 2910.1 and the following. 4.2.1 Sodium carbonate solution: Sodium carbonate solution with a mass fraction of 5% (dissolve 5g of sodium carbonate powder in 95 mL of distilled water). 4.2.2 Dilute acetic acid solution: Dilute 5 mL of glacial acetic acid with distilled water to 1,000 mL.
