1 Scope
This standard specifies the sizes/models, functional sizes, distribution and use and other hygiene requirements of the chairs and tables for primary and secondary schools, nursery institutions and institutions of higher learning.

For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

height of seat
the height of the highest point at the front edge of the chair from the ground
3.2
height of table top
the height of the table top near the chest from the ground
3.3
table-chair height difference
the difference between the height of table top and the height of seat.

leg room under the table
empty area under the table
space under the table drawer
3.5
minimum length of table top
the size of the table top in the left and right directions on the sitting side
3.6
minimum depth of table top
the size of the table top in the front and rear directions on the sitting side
3.7
minimum width of seat
the size of the front edge of the chair top in the left and right directions
3.8
effective depth of seat
the horizontal distance from the midpoint of the front edge of the chair top to the midpoint of the lower edge of the backrest

point of backrest
the most forward-convex point of the backrest on the centerline of the chair
