GB/T 40639-2021 Determination of banned trichloroacetic acid in cosmetics
1 Scope
This document specifies the principle, reagents and materials, apparatus, test procedures, result calculation and precision for determination of trichloroacetic acid in cosmetics by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
This document is applicable to the determination of trichloroacetic acid in toner, cream and lotion cosmetics.
2 Normative references
The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
GB/T 6682 Water for analytical laboratory use - Specification and test methods
3 Terms and definitions
No terms and definitions are listed in this document.
4 Principle
The sample can be extracted with methyl tert-butyl ether under acidic conditions, and the extract can be dried with nitrogen and then derivatized with sulfuric acid ethanol solution to form ethyl trichloroacetate from trichloroacetic acid in the sample. The ethyl trichloroacetate can be extracted with n-hexane and injected into a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) instrument for analysis, and quantified by the external standard method.
5 Reagents and materials
Unless otherwise specified, only analytical reagents shall be used.
