This document is applicable to the determination of antimicrobial activity of non-absorbent leather. 2 Normative references The following documents contain requirements which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. QB/T 2707 Leather - Physical and mechanical tests - Sample preparation and conditioning 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 antimicrobial activity ability to use chemical or physical methods to kill or hinder the growth and reproduction of bacteria and fungi, which can reduce their quantity and activity [Source: WS/T 650-2019, 3.1, modified] 3.2 control sample sample that is not antimicrobial treated and is used to verify the growth conditions of the test microorganisms 4 Principle By inoculating quantitative microorganisms on the surface of non-absorbent leather sample, the microorganisms are uniformly contacted with the surface of the sample by sticking a film. After a certain period of culture, the number of viable bacteria on the surface of the sample is determined, and the antibacterial rate is calculated to express the antibacterial activity of the sample.
