1 Scope
This document specifies the general requirements and the set of basic elements of operational design condition for automated driving systems.
This document is applicable to Categories M and N vehicles equipped with automated driving systems, and may serve as a reference for vehicles of other types or those equipped with other levels of driving automation systems.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 40429-2021 and the following apply.
3.1
automated driving system; ADS
system composed of both hardware and software that realize the automated driving functions
Note: This term refers to driving automation systems at Level 3 and above as specified in GB/T 40429-2021.

3.2
operational design condition; ODC
general term for various conditions determined during the design of the driving automation system that are applicable to its functional operation, including the operational design domain, vehicle status, occupant status, and other necessary conditions
3.3
operational design domain; ODD
external environmental conditions determined during the design of the driving automation system that are applicable to its functional operation
Note: Typical external environmental conditions include roads, traffic, weather, and lighting.
