本标准是对GB/T 457-2002《纸耐折度的测定（肖伯尔法）》、GB/T 1538-1979《纸板耐折度的测定法（肖伯尔式测定仪）》及GB/T 2679.5-1995《纸和纸板耐折度的测定（MIT 耐折度仪法）》三个标准
的整合修订。
本标准代替GB/T 1538-1979、GB/T 2679.5-1995和GB/T 457-2002。
本标准规定了测定纸和纸板耐折度的肖伯尔法和MIT法，提出了使用仪器时应遵守的条件，以及使用每种仪器时应注意的事项。肖伯尔法适用于厚度小于0.25mm，抗张强度大于1.33kN/m的纸，以及厚度为0.25mm～1.4mm的纸板。MIT法具有可调节间距的夹头，适用于厚度不大于1.25mm的纸和纸板
本标准与GB/T 1538-1979、GB/T 2679.5-1995和GB/T 457-2002相比，主要差异如下：
