1 Scope
This document specifies the basic principles and requirements of drinking water quality examination.
This document is applicable to the quality examination of domestic drinking water as well as source water and treated, stored and transported drinking water.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
constant mass
mass difference of less than 0.2mg after two consecutive drying cycles, except for total dissolved solids
3.2
measure
operation of taking water samples or test solutions with measuring cylinder
3.3
pipetting
operation of taking water samples or test solutions with non-graduated pipettes, graduated pipettes or pipettors
3.4
constant volume
operation of diluting to the scale in a volumetric flask with pure water or other solvent
3.5
minimum detectable mass
minimum mass of the measured substance that can be accurately determined
Note: in mg, μg, etc.
3.6
minimum detectable mass concentration
mass concentration of the tested substance corresponding to the minimum detectable mass
Note: in mg/L, μg/L, etc.
3.7
total minimum detectable mass concentration
sum of 1/2 of the minimum detectable mass concentration for each indice with total limit
