4 Classification
4.1 Category of corrugated boxes
Corrugated boxes are classified into 2 categories and 20 types according to the maximum mass and inside dimension of length plus width and depth of the contents, circulation environmental conditions, and the different types of corrugated cardboard used, as shown in Table 1. The performance of the corrugated cardboard used for each type of corrugated box shall not be lower than the values specified in GB/T 6544-2008, Table 1. Category 1 boxes are mainly used in situations with relatively harsh circulation environments, while Category 2 boxes are mainly used in situations with better circulation environments.

Note: where the maximum mass and maximum inside dimension of length plus width and depth of contents are not at the same level, the larger one shall prevail.
4.2 Basic box type and code
Basic box type and code of corrugated boxes are shown in Annex A. Depending on the different contents, other types of corrugated boxes can also be used. Box accessories, such as baffle plates, liners and bases, may be used in corrugated boxes, and their types and codes are shown in Annex B.
