本标准规定了紫胶产品的检验方法。
本标准适用于颗粒紫胶、紫胶片、脱色紫胶片、脱蜡紫胶片、脱色脱蜡紫胶片、军用紫胶片、漂白紫胶和精制漂白紫胶等紫胶产品。
本标准与GB/T 8143-1987相比，主要变化如下：
——增加了规范性引用文件；
——修改了挥发物（水分）的测定原方法二中干燥温度和时间的规定，将原方法二调整为方法一；
——修改了热乙醇不溶物测定原方法二中测定程序的规定，将原方法二调整为方法一；
